Alabama Students Safely Evacuated From Burning Bus

A Mobile County Public Schools bus caught fire this afternoon near North University Boulevard at Overlook Road. Students were evacuated from the bus. Mobile Fire-Rescue reports there were no injuries. All 15 Scarborough Middle School students who were on board the burning bus were transferred to another bus to complete their journey home, according to Mobile County Public Schools. Wednesday evening, FOX10 news spoke to 11-year-old Ja’Kira Ballard, who was on board and ran to safety. “We [students] were sitting and talking," Ja’Kira recalled. "That’s when a boy said, ’What’s that smell?’
