Strong Downburst Winds Rip Up Trees, Roofs In SoCal

 Tuesday, March 8, 2016

An El Nino-driven storm brought strong downburst winds and heavy rain to the Inglewood area Monday morning, ripping trees from the ground and roofs off the buildings. The National Weather Service said a strong downburst hit the 900 block of E. Hyde Park Boulevard around 6:30 a.m., causing a path of damage. "First, we thought it was like an earthquake... We could hear it just rumbling," Ulysses Tatum said. When Tatum looked outside, he saw debris and downed trees covering the streets. Other residents said heavy rain also leaked through their roofs, soaking their furniture and other belongings.
