Firefighters worked into the night after responding to an explosive, multiple-alarm blaze that erupted Tuesday afternoon at a Phoenix recycling plant. Initial reports put the blaze at a paper plant on 36th Street just south of Sky Harbor International Airport, but the fire appeared to spread to other areas. "There’s multitudes of things burning right now," said Phoenix Fire Capt. Aaron Ernsberger. In addition to the recycling plant, he said industrial tractor-trailers and a mulch yard were on fire.
He expected firefighters to be battling the blaze for several hours.
