Lightning Strike Suspected In San Antonio House Fire

A suspected lightning strike is believed to have caused a structure fire at a far West Side residence. As many as 27 San Antonio Fire Department units responded a little after 4:30 p.m. to a fire in the 5200 block of Roan Brook. San Antonio Fire Assistant Chief Mike Walsh said the roof collapsed 15 minutes after firefighters arrived to put out the blaze. Walsh said more units were called in for back up to assist firefighters, some of whom were pulled from inside the home. According to witness statements, Walsh said investigators believe a lightning strike caused the fire.
