A Jefferson Parish grand jury indicted 13 men accused of running a large-scale auto theft ring with the help of an unnamed former elected official. The group operated for seven years, targeting mostly the East and West Banks of Jefferson Parish and was responsible for about 32 percent of the vehicle thefts in the parish, according to court records. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is expected to share more details about the racketeering case brought by authorities at an 11 a.m. press conference on Friday (May 13).
