Texas Residents Displaced After Heavy Rains Collapse Retaining Walls

An apartment building in a standoff with Lake Granbury held its ground Monday while residents finished packing up all they could carry out. City officials ordered them out Friday after recent rains toppled stone retaining walls, allowing earth to erode beneath the building. It’s perched on a cliff above the water. The owner’s son told Channel 8 his family is trying to determine why the walls collapsed, and who should pay to fix them — if they can be fixed. “All the people who live in the complex came at the same time to help each person take everything out,” said resident Tina Baker.
