Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Leave Damage Across D.C.

Heavy downpours, lightning and strong winds caused power outages and damage to homes and buildings throughout the D.C. area Wednesday night. Storm Team4 declared a Weather Alert Day and a flash flood watch was in effect for the entire region. A flash flood warning is in effect for Baltimore City until 6 a.m. The storms began moving into the western edge of the region at about 6 p.m. and moved across the D.C. area over the subsequent few hours. D.C. Fire and EMS officials said part of a roof has been blown off of a four-story apartment building at 1131 K Street SE.
