The upper balcony of a three-story apartment building on Long Beach, Long Island collapsed Tuesday morning causing several balconies below to come crashing down. A FOX 5 News crew working in the area came upon the scene as firefighters and police officers rushed to the building at 233 Shore Road at about 8 a.m. A resident of the lower level apartment told FOX 5 she was fortunate to make it out alive. Scaffolding can be seen erected on the side of the building.
A local resident said the building which is located a block from the beach had been undergoing brick repair work for several weeks.
