A 63-year-old construction worker on Interstate 4 was fatally struck by a piece of steel Monday afternoon in Altamonte Springs, officials say. The worker was a subcontract employee for SGL Constructors, the lead contractor on the interstates multibillion-dollar I-4 Ultimate makeover. SGL spokesman Russ Handler said the worker was killed about 2:30 p.m. while at a site just off I-4 east near Cranes Roost, at State Road 436. The workers identity hasnt been released. Handler said work on the project was stopped after the incident, but crews were expected to report this morning.
