New Albany Luxury Apartments Damaged By Fire

Fire crews battled a blaze Saturday morning that damaged part of a $26.5 million luxury apartment complex under construction in New Albany. Crews arrived at The Breakwater apartments at 411 E. Spring St. around 5:11 a.m. Saturday. Nobody was injured and the damaged building facing Elm Street was unoccupied. Matthew Juliot, chief of the New Albany Fire Department, said at a news conference that the fire appears to have started on the third floor. The incident is under investigation and Juliot said they do not yet know the cause of the fire.
