Crews battled two large, residential fires in Vancouver on Thursday afternoon as temperatures inched into the triple-digits. Firefighters were sent out to a home near 16th and East Reserve streets just before 5 p.m. The fire spread from a shed to the home, and then to a neighbors house. Reports said someone trying to jump-start a car sparked the fire. About an hour later, another fire was reported at the Madison Park Apartments on NE 28th Street. The Columbian reported eight units were damaged when the fire spread to two buildings. Several homes were also damaged.
