A Greenville-area restaurant was destroyed by fire early Monday morning, on the same site of a fatal arson more than a decade earlier.

The blaze at Hitch’n Post Bar and Grille, 438 Hadley Road, Otter Creek Township, was reported at 12:48 a.m., and flames were going through the roof by the time the first responders arrived, said Jim Tuchek, assistant fire chief with the Sheakleyville Community Fire Department. “The business closed at 10 p.m., so there was nobody inside,” he said. The first truck to arrive on the scene was from the Greenville Fire Department, and fire departments from Sheakleyville, Stoneboro, Hempfield Township, Fredonia, Transfer, Mercer, Jamestown, and Greenwood and Vernon Townships responded to the fire. The scene was eventually cleared at 4 a.m., Tuchek said.
