Almost two dozen cars were stolen this wintry month while left running unattended or with keys inside, Norfolk police said.
Department officials are urging people not to leave their cars alone and running in attempts to warm them up. In cold weather, thats a common practice, detectives wrote in a news release. “But, in a matter of seconds, their car could be taken,” they wrote. In January so far, 40 vehicles have been reported stolen in the city. Of those, 55 percent were either running unattended or keys were left inside.
