Foxborough police sent officers to New England Patriots’ star Rob Gronkowski’s home Monday night to investigate a break-in that may have led to the theft of “multiple safes and possible guns taken,” according to a recording of a police dispatcher. Foxborough Police Chief William D. Baker said in a telephone interview Tuesday that the professional athlete suffered a “double whammy’’: having his personal space invaded by thieves and the Patriots’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
