Many Flood-Damaged Properties In Michiana Likely Uninsured

Rob Manuszak was busy pumping out the basement of the little house he bought about a month ago at 1118 Emerson Ave.
At the same time, South Bend Fire Department personnel were parked out front early Wednesday afternoon pulling people from their flooded homes just down the street that slopes toward the St. Joseph River. When Manuszak and his friends arrived at the house about 10:30 a.m. there was already about 6 inches of water in the basement; a couple of hours later, the water was 12 inches deep and pumps were running to try to keep up.
