Rockwall, Texas Homes Evacuated As Lake Swells From Heavy Rains

More than a dozen Rockwall homes were evacuated Thursday due to flooding from the heavy rain that has inundated North Texas and engorged Rockwall Lake. The city of Rockwall sent out a statement Thursday afternoon that said the Rockwall Fire Department helped several families evacuate their homes along Lakeside Drive on the east side of the lake. All evacuations were voluntary, the city said. As rain continued to fall Thursday morning, Rockwall Lake quickly spilled from its banks and flooded nearby homes and streets with up to three to four feet of water, said Sgt. Jeff Welch, a spokesman for the Rockwall Police Department.
