An influx of visitors last week brought more traffic than usual to the spring Thunder Beach Motorcycle Rally and more than twice as many motorcycle accidents as last year, according to Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman. Tallying up the final crash data from the rally, which wrapped up Sunday, Whitman said his department responded to 49 total crashes, 22 of which involved motorcycles and two involving scooters. Last year, Beach Police recorded 41 total crashes, 10 with motorcycles and one with a scooter.
