New Jersey officials are investigating firearms insurance backed by the National Rifle Association, the Department of Banking and Insurance announced late Tuesday evening. The department is looking into potential violations by the Kansas-based Lockton Affinity LLC, as the insurance broker, for the unlawful “marketing and sale of NRA-sponsored insurance under the Carry Guard Program,” according to DOBI Commissioner Marlene Caride. DOBI is also investigating the Chicago, Ill.-based Illinois Union, a member of the Chubb group, over “potential violations in its role as the underwriter of the insurance product,” Caride said.
