Insurance Payout From Adrian Peterson’s Saints Tenure At Center Of Lawsuit

Friday, July 26th, 2019 Excess & Surplus Lines Litigation

Adrian Peterson’s four-game Saints run is just a blip in his Hall-of-Fame NFL career, but it’s going to play a role in a court battle over the running back’s apparent millions in unpaid debt.

Peterson, who is returning for a 13th season as a member of the Washington Redskins, had an oddly brief tenure with the Saints in 2017 after spending his first 10 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

Before suffering a knee injury that led to his departure from Minnesota, Peterson had agreed to a loss-of-value insurance policy to protect him against future losses, according to a report from The Athletic.

Such policies are not uncommon for NFL players, and are intended to protect players, whose contracts are not guaranteed, from lost income due to injuries or other issues.
