About 40 vehicles were damaged Sunday when a snow plow tossed slush onto the opposite side of the Ohio Turnpike near Sandusky, the State Highway Patrol said.
A Reddit user posted video which shows the slush hit several vehicles, causing at least one car to spin out. Several vehicles were struck by the debris and crashed into other vehicles or guardrails, the Highway Patrol said.
The incident happened around 1:46 p.m. near milepost 114, just south of Sandusky. Troopers from the Patrol’s Milan Post responded to eastbound lanes of the turnpike between State Route 4 and state Route 250, Highway Patrol spokesman Ray Santiago said.
At least 12 people were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Santiago said.
The slush caused several cracked windshields. Some cars sustained minor damage, while others had more severe damage, Santiago said. The video shows that the snow plow appeared to be traveling about the same speed as other vehicles on the highway.
