In an unusual incident at a Houston car dealership, two stray dogs caused substantial damage estimated at $350,000. Captured on surveillance video at G Motors, the dogs, one a bull terrier mix and the other of an unknown breed, were seen scratching paint and tearing off bumpers of vehicles in the lot. This event left the dealership’s finance manager, Imran Haq, and sales manager Gaby Fakhoury, both bewildered and concerned.

The dogs, believed to have entered the lot by crawling under a fence while possibly chasing stray cats, were apprehended by Houston’s animal control shelter, BARC. The first dog, named Dasher, was captured in early December and has been declared healthy and adoptable by BARC. The second dog was caught on December 31 and is still under evaluation.

This incident is not only notable for the amount of damage caused but also highlights a broader issue regarding stray animals in urban environments. G Motors staff expressed sympathy for the dogs, emphasizing that they are now in good hands and can be adopted. This situation, while causing significant financial strain for the dealership, also sheds light on the potential for unexpected interactions between stray animals and property, underscoring the importance of animal control and community awareness in urban settings.
