AT&T customers across the United States experienced significant network outages, impacting their ability to make calls, send texts, and access the internet. Over 64,000 outages were reported on DownDetector, although actual numbers might be higher.
The issue, acknowledged by AT&T without a disclosed cause, also affected 911 access in some regions, prompting local governments to advise on alternative emergency contact methods. While Verizon and T-Mobile customers experienced minor disruptions, both companies confirmed their networks were operating normally, attributing issues to AT&T’s outage. Efforts to restore service are ongoing, with customers urged to use Wi-Fi calling in the meantime.
