248K Ram Heavy-duty Diesel Trucks Recalled for Fire Risk

Thursday, November 17th, 2022 Auto Subrogation

Ram is recalling more than 248,300 of its 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickup trucks for a potential fire risk from leaking transmission fluid.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2020-23 2500 and model-year 2020-22 3500 heavy-duty trucks equipped with the Cummins 6.7-liter turbo-diesel engine and 68RFE transmission.

The issue stems from a build-up of pressure and heat within the transmission that may result in a fluid leak from the dipstick tube.

The fluid could come in contact with the ignition source of the engine and lead to a fire, resulting in injury or property damage. Ram says one minor injury has been reported due to this issue, but there are no related fatalities.
