3 Workers Killed In Crash Caused By 92-Year-Old Driver

Three utility workers were killed Thursday afternoon in Lake County in a crash involving an elderly driver, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.The crash happened at 1:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 27 at Cagan Crossing Boulevard near Clermont.According to the FHP, Ira Caldwell, 92, of Davenport, was driving a 2006 Cadillac and pulled into the path of Alexandra Schultz, 20, of Clermont, driving a four-door Chevrolet. The left front of the Cadillac hit the right side of the Chevrolet, causing the Chevy to travel onto the west shoulder of U.S. 27, striking the workers, all of whom died at the scene, troopers said.
