4-Year-Old Child Sets Mattress On Fire, Causes $100K Of Damage To House In Waldorf, Md.

A fire on Tuesday in Waldorf was caused when a four-year-old child set a mattress on fire, says the fire marshal’s office. According to authorities, the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 3200 block of Indian King Court on Tuesday afternoon. Forty six firefighters got the fire under control in about 15 mintues. The State Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the child, a family member, had ignited the mattress in the bedroom. Major damage was caused to the house due to the fire.
