— AAA Carolinas has a message for drivers this summer: "Life Has No Redial, Stay off the Phone.” The motor club has launched a new campaign that encourages drivers to stay of their cell phones completely while driving. AAA officials said the club’s latest research into cognitive distractions has shown that using a cell phone while driving can be just as dangerous as drunk driving. AAA is taking the campaign to the streets. Officials said the message "Life Has No Redial, Stay off the Phone" will be wrapped on the sides of AAA delivery trucks that travel through North and South Carolina during the "100 Deadliest Days of summer," the time period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when traffic deaths historically climb.

The message will also be posted on gas pumps and gas stations in cities and towns across the Carolinas.

Officials said the goal is to let motorists know that putting the phone away while driving could significantly reduce the number of crashes and potentially save lives.
