ADOT Freeway Pump Problems Aggravated Flooding That Closed Interstate 10

The Arizona Department of Transportation says its freeway pump system had problems during Monday’s rain storms, aggravating flooding that closed part of Interstate 10 for hours. Department spokesman Doug Nintzel says one pump’s communications system failed to automatically tell workers that the pump’s engine hadn’t started. Nintzel says that delayed workers from reaching the site to turn on the pump’s engine.
