A Billings businessman suspected of helping to defraud a Wyoming insurance company in a phony claims scheme denied federal fraud charges Thursday. Appearing for arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn Ostby, Robert Shane Peterson, 42, pleaded not guilty to one count of wire fraud. An indictment accuses Peterson of working with Ryan Paul Shipman, a former claims adjuster for Mountain West Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co., to steal more than $100,000 from the Laramie-based company.
