Boss Talks/Workers Heal Quicker
Sunday, July 22nd, 2001 Workers' CompensationHow soon an injured worker returns to work can depend on their financial situation and whether they were hurt on or off the job, a survey has found. And a key factor in getting injured workers swiftly back on the job is management communication, the study determined. It was researched by the Gallup Organization for two Philadelphia concerns-- Intracorp (a management firm) and CIGNA IntegratedCare (the disability benefits firm). Employees have different concerns and need specialized communications based on their medical condition, financial vulnerability, workplace knowledge and length of absence from work, the research found. The survey, which was announced during the 39th Annual Risk and Insurance Management Society Conference this week in Atlanta, concluded that it makes a significant difference whether the injury or illness is work-related.
