Boy Dies After Salt Block Crashes Into Vehicle

A 5-year-old Utah boy has died from a bizarre crash after a salt block fell from a flatbed truck and crashed into his vehicle. On Saturday, Idaho State Police says Weiser resident Ronald Morgenthaler was northbound on Highway 52 in his Silverado with two pallets of salt blocks on the flatbed. Though in shrink wrap and tied down, one of the pallets came loose as Morgenthaler rounded a curve at milepost 43, about 13 miles north of Emmett. Several salt blocks flew off the truck and one struck a pickup being driven by Jaeson Atwood of Nampa.
