The parents of a baby boy who lost his testicles during a surgery at Oregon Health & Science University are suing the hospital for $1.5 million, saying surgeons performed an unpermitted technique that ended up cutting off the blood supply, rendering them useless. The boy, who was nearly 1 at the time of the 2009 surgery, will have to undergo twice-monthly testosterone injections starting at age 11 for the rest of his life.
