Monday, March 4th, 2013 Property Workers' Compensation

A Camas-Washougal firefighter had a close call at a burning townhouse in Camas on Thursday morning. Nearly two dozen firefighters responded to the home on Southeast Weir Street at about 9:30 a.m. Crews found smoke and flames coming from the second floor of the townhouse. Camas firefighters Gary Horst and Ron Nickles headed straight for the flames coming from a second-story bedroom, but the smoke was thick. "(We) got the window open, and something fell off the shelf of the window that was flammable," Horst said.
