County Will Pay Landslide Claims While Waiting On Insurance Companies

Wednesday, May 6th, 2015 Property

Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper told Eyewitness News that the county will pay claims to displaced homeowners if the insurance companies will not. Carper said the county will give a deadline and if it’s not met, the county will start paying claims. It’s been about 55 days since a huge landslide at Yeager Airport that still has some residents in limbo - living in motels.
"You just can’t keep people in motels," Carper said on Eyewitness News at Noon on Tuesday. Carper also said Keystone Apostolic Church has been mistreated by insurance companies, and the church should know where it stands. "Their conduct is shameless," Carper said.
