Wednesday, June 15th, 2005 — Residents along the West Coast were breathing a sigh of relief Wednesday after a 7.0 earthquake occurred 90 miles off shore. The quake did not trigger a tsunami that officials initially feared might follow, but the 7.0 quake roiled the waters off the northern California coast, and triggered a brief tsunami warning as well as the evacuation of thousands of residents from a community that has a history of battling killer waves.
