
Passing motorists attempted CPR on a delivery truck driver who was unconscious and not breathing after a deer hit by a different car crashed through the windshield of his delivery truck Tuesday morning, Oregon State Police said. Medics rushed Jesse Bastien, 37, of Eugene to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The crash happened just before 9 a.m. on Highway 126 near Greenhill Road. Lt. Lang Hinkle said an eastbound car hit a deer in the road. The impact sent the deer airborne into the path of Bastien’s truck.
