Devices Allow Thieves Keyless Entry Into Vehicles

Monday, August 11th, 2014 Property Technology

The National Insurance Crime Bureau has put out an alert about high-tech thieves using keyless access to break into cars. The criminals use devices that emit signals to cars which normally have keyless entry, experts said. Some thieves will case parking lots, looking to see which cars respond to the device. That device is sold online. "It mimics the signal, and people can get access to your vehicle by using this device. It does not allow them to start the vehicle or steal it or anything like that," explained Frank Scifidi, with the NICB.
