A pre-dawn tornado that killed at least eight people Thursday in a North Carolina mobile-home park struck so suddenly that some of those in its path were still sleeping. The violent thunderstorms that spawned the tornado were blamed for at least 12 deaths from Louisiana to North Carolina. The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has logged 20 reports of tornadoes since the storm began its deadly march on Tuesday, November 14.
