Firefighters contained a series of wildfires burning in Arkansas on Tuesday but unseasonably warm temperatures and strong winds kept the threat of more fires in the area high. Nearly 60 fires burned across the state Tuesday, but firefighters were able to contain 53 of the fires, although 3 were still burning on late Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service in North Little Rock was forecasting near-record high temperatures for Wednesday in many areas in the state, with highs in the lower 70s to mid 80s although rain isn’t expected until late Wednesday or Thursday.
