The Red Cross is assisting a family of four that lost their home to a fire on Wednesday afternoon. Rosalinda Polando said she lived at the home in the 5200 block of East FM 40 with her husband, son and daughter; who both attend Roosevelt High School. Idalou, Roosevelt, Buffalo Springs Lake, Ransom Canyon, New Deal and West Carlisle fire departments all responded to the scene around 1 p.m. These firefighters had to work together for about three hours to put out the fire without a hydrant. They had to take turns filling up their tankers from a hydrant about two miles away because the home was located outside of city limits.
