Former Eagles Player Emmanuel Acho Prevails In Workers’ Comp Case

Monday, February 13th, 2023 Litigation Workers' Compensation

Former Eagles linebacker turned media personality, Emmanuel Acho, has won a lengthy workers’ compensation battle. Acho’s career with the Eagles ended in 2015 due to a thumb injury, after playing in 20 regular season games.

Since then, Acho has become an Emmy-award winning broadcaster, a lead NFL analyst on Fox Sports 1, and runs a nonprofit called Living Hope Christian Ministries.

Emmanuel Acho injured his thumb in a Philadelphia Eagles practice in August 2015, but continued to play in a preseason game. However, he later broke the same thumb and needed surgery, and was released from the team after an injury settlement.

Acho was re-signed but was cut again due to the symptomatic thumb. Acho filed a workers’ comp claim petition in 2018 and received partial disability after assessments by different physicians.

The Eagles appealed the decision, arguing that it was not based on substantial evidence and relied on incompetent medical testimony.
