Florida’s Chief Financial Officer made an announcement regarding the arrest of Kiyuana Pasley, a former claim adjuster for Progressive Insurance. Pasley faces serious charges including one count of Organized Fraud, 11 counts of Insurance Fraud, and 11 counts of Grand Theft.
The arrest follows an extensive investigation conducted by the Division of Investigative and Forensic Services (DIFS), which revealed Pasley’s alleged involvement in a fraudulent scheme. Progressive Insurance became aware of the misconduct in November 2022 and promptly reported it to DIFS.
Subsequent investigations uncovered that Pasley had taken control of 11 active claims without the knowledge of the insured individuals. She manipulated the claims by adding false information, including details related to bodily injury, deductibles, and wage loss payments. Pasley then redirected the claim funds from these 11 claims into her personal bank accounts.
During her tenure as a licensed claim adjuster at Progressive Insurance, Pasley exploited her insider knowledge to steal a total of $23,904.08 connected to 11 Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claims. Once her fraudulent scheme was uncovered, Pasley resigned from her position with the insurance company in October 2022.
If convicted on all charges, Pasley could potentially face a maximum sentence of 60 years in prison.
