Four University Students Die In Head-On Collision

Four University of Georgia students were killed following a two-vehicle crash in Oconee County Wednesday night. The crash happened at about 9 p.m. on Highway 15, near Watkinsville. The accident scene is about 14 miles south of Athens. According to Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry, both vehicles apparently were traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. Five female students from the University of Georgia were traveling in one vehicle. Three of them died at the scene. A fourth later died at Athens Regional Medical Center. A fifth student remains hospitalized.
