Grand Rapids Driver Hit In Head By 11-Pound Rock

A 48-year-old man was seriously injured when a large rock crashed through his windshield, causing him to hit a power pole Monday, Oct. 17, according to Walker Police. Police said the man was driving north on Turner Avenue NW when the rock crashed through the windshield and struck him in the head around 8:50 a.m. The man crashed into a power pole, causing it to break it in half. He was transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in serious condition. The rock weighed 11 pounds and was about 8 inches by 7 inches in size.
