Home total loss after frozen hydrants slow firemen

Firefighters struggled with frozen hydrants in North Tonawanda Monday night and the cold temperatures have prompted a Code Blue to be activated. The elements and cold temperatures caused problems for North Tonawanda firefighters battling flames at a home on Sweeny Street in North Tonawanda. North Tonawanda Fire Department Assistant Chief John Lapham said, "We ran into a water problem. Three frozen hydrants."
