Homeowners Policy Questions
Wednesday, July 18th, 2001 PropertyIn June, some turn their thoughts to beaches, mountains, country roads, expressways across state lines, and vacations. Me, I’m pondering an influx of homeowners policy questions and wondering if the emerging hard market is already having an effect on claims adjusting philosophy. You see, hard markets bring an attendant hardening of adjusting practices. Coverage can be hard to find, and claims are scrutinized ever more closely. We at the FC&S are seeing a growing number of disputed coverage opinions. This might be because of our growing visibility: our Web site with its coverage message board and our expanded marketing efforts. But it also might be the dark clouds of the coming hard season. Whatever it is, and whatever side of the fence you’re on, be forewarned--know your coverages. The best offense or defense is knowledge. That’s what we’re here for.
