Hundreds Of Crashes Reported During Heavy Rainfall In San Diego County

San Diego County was deluged with the heaviest rain it has received all winter on Monday when a North Pacific storm merged with moisture from the sub-tropics, creating a meteorological beast few people saw coming. The system spawned a narrow river of water that flowed into San Diego and Riverside counties, causing widespread flooding in a region already saturated from a series of storms that began in mid-December. “The storm tapped the sub-tropics and the rain just kept coming and coming,” said Alex Tardy, a forecaster at the National Weather Service. “This was the wettest single day of rain we’ve had.”
