Ice can do more roof damage than snow

More snow increases the chances that a roof could collapse under the strain of the added weight, but that’s rare. Local roofers say they’ve been much busier lately dealing with damage caused by melting ice. If a building is properly designed, it should be able to handle heavy snow loads, said Baraboo architect Terrence McCormick.
