Ice-storm insurance claims top prediction

Kentucky’s two largest providers of homeowner’s insurance are receiving more claims from last week’s ice storm than initially expected. State Farm, the state’s largest carrier for residential coverage, now expects it will handle as many as 12,000 claims, twice as many as it estimated late last week. State Farm has about 22 percent of the Kentucky homeowner’s insurance market.
