Insurance Claim Denied After Irish Woman Caught in Athletic Feat Post-Accident

In a turn of events that underscores the importance of consistent evidence in insurance claims, Kamila Grabska’s substantial claim of over $800,000 was nullified by a photo capturing her in a moment of athletic prowess. Grabska sought compensation from RSA Insurance, alleging severe and incapacitating pain stemming from a 2017 car accident which she claimed rendered her unable to work, perform household chores, or engage in play with her children. The bulk of her claim, amounting to approximately $542,000, was earmarked for past and future lost wages due to her purported inability to sustain employment post-accident.

However, the credibility of Grabska’s claims came into question when a photograph from January 2018 surfaced, showing her energetically participating in—and winning—a Christmas tree throwing contest. Despite Grabska’s insistence that her participation did not negate her ongoing pain and suffering, the court found the physical prowess displayed in the contest photo to be at odds with her described limitations. Judge Carmel Stewart, presiding over the case, pointed to the physicality of the act as evidence that Grabska’s claims were "entirely exaggerated," leading to the dismissal of her insurance claim.

Further undermining Grabska’s assertions was a video submitted as evidence, which depicted her actively training her dog for an extended period. This, alongside her contest participation, painted a picture of physical capabilities that contradicted her stated injuries.
