Harvard Medical School (HMS) is facing multiple class-action lawsuits in the aftermath of shocking allegations that a morgue employee was involved in stealing and selling human remains donated to the university’s medical school. The latest lawsuit reveals that the accused employee may have identified as the "Grim Reaper."
An investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania identified Cedric Lodge, a morgue employee at HMS, as a key figure in the operation. Lodge, along with his wife and four others, was charged with conspiracy and trafficking of stolen goods. It is alleged that Lodge took the remains to his home in New Hampshire and orchestrated sales to external buyers.
The plaintiffs in these lawsuits are seeking damages for emotional distress and mistreatment or sale of their loved ones’ bodies. The families argue that Harvard’s involvement in the illegal trafficking of human remains has caused significant harm and violated their trust.
